What are some initial signs of a traumatic brain injury?

On Behalf of  | Oct 5, 2021 | Personal Injury

An icy entranceway or an unsafe stairwell can lead to a serious slip and fall. While you may not notice them right away, symptoms of a traumatic brain injury may become more apparent as time goes on.

Knowing the danger signs for this kind of injury can help you after an accident.

Physical issues

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, many people experience blurry vision and painful headaches soon after a blow to the head. These physical issues can increase in severity as time goes on. Your ability to think clearly and concentrate on daily tasks changes, which then becomes a source of aggravation and frustration over time.

Extreme fatigue, or feeling like you need to sit down and rest more often, is another sign of a bigger problem. You may struggle to fall asleep or be fitful during the night, which leads to more strain during the day.

Psychological impact

While the psychological signs of a traumatic brain injury may not appear right away, some people do experience worse symptoms as time goes on. You may feel as if you are not thinking or speaking as clearly as before or become constantly groggy for multiple days.

This can lead to you snapping at people around you and feeling stressed out. If other people around you note any odd behavior that you yourself do not notice, take notice. Sometimes it is harder to see changes in our own emotional state. Slip and fall injuries affect both our minds and bodies, so noticing these signs early on is important.
